Before I give more information about how I've backup my server with just $7 a month with Github, I have to admit this might not be the perfect solution, but for a limited budget it is just perfect.
In the past few years, i worked with different companies and all of them have a problem in common, how to backup the server without spending to much money. I know that there are quite a lot of approaches and softwares that can be used to backup data and they offer many options and tracking, however, for a limited budget I think this is the cheapest way to backup your data.
I have 3 servers, 1 cloud and 2 normal servers. The problem I was trying to solve was how to backup my servers code/platforms with database without investing to much money.
Now my servers contains the following:
Ubuntu Server OS
I haven't done any specific configuration and I haven't rename any folders, so all the information is in /var/www
inside the www i've created the following:
backups ( this is a folder)
Before adding the below code, make sure you have GitHub SSH access on your server.
